Summarise and communicate the essence of your project development
This was the last week of Fab Academy, and I was prepared for finishing my Final Project. During this week I checked all the details of my ABIZO kit and I tried to prepared the slide and video.
For this week we have some questions to answer as below.
Have you answered these questions?
What tasks have been completed, and what tasks remain?
I finished the 3d design and the PCB circuits, still am working on the programming, fabricating the 3d models, organizing my slide, and taking short videos for the final presentation.
What has worked? what hasn't?
Until now, the ABIZO robot is working amazingly. The water bottle still I'm trying to make it easier to use.
What questions need to be resolved?
How can I safely power the ABIZO robot?
How I will test the water level since am using 3d printing in fabricating the models and there are gaps between the layers.
What will happen when?
I'm thinking of presenting my kit in several local maker's fires and on kickstarter website.
What have you learned?
I was thinking of this diploma since 2017, in 2019 I applied for it, in 2020 I started the diploma. I learned a lot from Prof.Niel's lectures. in the beginning, I couldn't have much time to attend every live lecture, but since the COVID -19 began I attended most of them even the Saturdays open lab sessions, of course, it wasn't easy to do all the assignments at the lab with the lockdown for more than 80 days, but the bright side I found more time for myself to test and explore I in the different tasks. Also with this pandemic the Fablab community gives me the motivation to organized different workshops with my Netaj lab team and KID FAB HUB team, we participated on FABX event and I think this is will never happen if this event requires personal attendance, I really amazed by this event how we easily contact each other and each one of us in a different country! I hope we can keep the platform to communicate in the future.
Back to the amazing diploma I really learned a lot especially with electronics and the different materials on molding and casting each task I learned more than I know.
I was on Fablab Dharan as a facilitator, but even that I couldn't find enough time to try each machine over there, in this diploma I consider my self an expert on each FabLab machine.
My major is BA in English language, by self-learning I learned how to design and how to write simple codes, but now I learned everything ALMOST everything I need to run my own lab =)
I also learn how to build my own website! It was a dream come true! I thought HTML is hard to learn but now with this diploma and some online courses, I attended I learned a lot of HTML, CSS languages! I never thought I will do this =)
I would like to thank all Fab Lab community for doing this possible, of course, and most importantly, my family and my friends for everything they did with me during the 8 months to get this diploma, special thanks for our instructor on Talents lab Eng. Yousef Alsenwar for his support with each assignment and how he leads us perfectly to the right path until this stage, and for FabLab Bahrain Eng. Salman AlOraibi, he was our Fab Wikipedia mashallah we learned from him a lot of things. They did a lot to manage our time on this amazing journey! Very special thanks to my little nephew and his friends who inspire me to prototype this idea for my final project.
Finally, this diploma will be my birthday present to me for this year.
